Fatima is a software engineer and civic hacker with experience working inside and outside of government. Her adventures in civic tech have taken her from the U.S. to Canada, and she’s worked for Microsoft, the City of Boston, Digital Echidna, and most recently, Code for Canada. As a Code for Canada developer fellow at Transport Canada, she and her team conducted user research and agile development to build a digital tool for recreational drone pilots to fly more safely and legally.
Having worked in open source and civic tech, Fatima is deeply committed to making technology spaces more inclusive. She’s received several accolades for her work in the Drupal community, the public service and local civic tech meetups from scholarships, CBC interviews, and the 2018 Women in Communications & Technology Rising Star award.
